Was my response to my ex fair?

I don't get it. My ex broke up with me I was fine with it and said I was going move on. I let him know I was going to delete him from fb until I was ready to be friends. well he repeatedly tried to gete a hold of me on fb and I just said I think its best staying this way. He said OK that he would leave it to me when we would be friends... months go by he requests me again along with some response about me not being a d-bag and just adding him because he knew I wanted to. I have moved on and am dating someone else and I told him "for lack of a better way to say it that I really didn't want anything to do with him. It was nothing personal, I wasn't hurt, I didn't hate him I just was over it. And at this point who really cares anymore" I wished him luck. not sure why he wanted to be friends with me so bad ( we were only romantic for 3 months and had no history of friendship.) Was my response to him fair? Why is a guy who broke up with me so fixated on this fb thing/ friendship thing?
